A novel in the style of but not by Anne Radcliffe
This is a novel written in the style of A. Radcliffe, but entirely done by the French author of gothic and historical novels Étienne-Léon de Lamothe-Langon (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89tienne-L%C3%A9on_de_Lamothe-Langon), and _NOT_ by Anne Radcliffe of "The Mysteries of Udolpho" fame. Numerous purported translations into French of A. Radcliffe's hugely popular Gothic works were published, but the majority of these were false attributions, used by unscrupulous authors/publishers to better sell their books. This is confirmed here: http://www.erudit.org/revue/ttr/1994/v7/n1/037167ar.pdf
Haven't read this Lamothe-Langon novel, but other of his Gothic works are quite tasty.
